Barker shoes are an important part of our extensive product range. The traditional English brand owes its beginnings to the enterprising and skilled British shoemaker and innovator Arthur Barker who founded the company out of a humble cottage in 1880 in the heart of England's Shoe Making Industry. Today, more than 140 years later, Barker is still making expertly crafted shoes in the Northamptonshire village of Earls Barton and is renowned the world over for its unique quality. All shoe models are made in England - some still by hand - according to the same traditional shoemaking methods employed at the end of the 19th century.
Barker: Fine English Shoes
Even after more than 140 years of footwear, the company still uses traditional methods of shoe making, so that the finished shoes are of a quality that is second to none. In the production of Barker’s elegant shoes, only the very best materials and craftsmen are employed. Leathers are carefully selected and the uppers are shaped on the last by hand. When dyeing the shoes Barker uses only natural ecological colors. A slow natural drying process and a gentle polish ensure the shoes’ unique quality. The result is men's shoes in the true refined English style. Did you know: Barker’s craftspeople produce some 200,000 pairs of hand lasted sewn shoes each year!
