The Langer & Messmer shoe cleaning brush is the essential first step in professional shoe care: it removes dirt, dust and dried-on residue before cream or wax is applied. A dirty shoe cannot absorb care products evenly. Depending on the type of footwear and the level of soiling, three versions are available – soft pig bristles, medium-stiff coconut fibres, and hard synthetic bristles. All variants are made in Germany.
Choosing the Right Variant
Soft pig bristles are suited to gently cleaning smooth leather shoes: oxfords, derbies, loafers and fine leather boots. The soft natural bristles lift dust and light residue without abrading the surface.
Medium-stiff coconut fibres from 100 % coconut fibre offer more cleaning power for heavily soiled, robust footwear: hiking shoes, work shoes and football boots. Coconut fibres are naturally stiffer than pig bristles but gentler than synthetic ones.
Hard synthetic bristles are the most heavy-duty option. They break up dried mud, clay and caked-on dirt from work boots, hunting boots, hiking shoes and rubber boots – including into sole profiles and deep seams. Synthetic bristles do not absorb water, can be rinsed under running water after use and are immediately ready again. Not suitable for fine smooth or suede leather.
