The Langer & Messmer suede brush in the compact 125mm size cleans suede, nubuck and velour shoes gently and thoroughly – ideal for smaller shoe styles, stitching lines and tight areas where a more manoeuvrable brush has the advantage. The washable lamellae made from pure natural rubber (crepe) lift dirt, salt and grease residue without damaging the delicate fibre surface.
At the core of the brush are strips of pure natural rubber. Unlike metal brass bristles, crepe does not roughen the velour surface – instead it releases soiling through friction and static bonding. The lamellae are fully washable: rinse under lukewarm water, leave to dry at room temperature, and the brush is immediately ready to use again.
Made in Germany from a solid wooden body with precisely fitted rubber lamellae. No plastic, no synthetic rubber. The choice of materials reflects the same standard we apply to all Langer & Messmer products.
Allow the shoes to dry completely before brushing. Then work across the surface in even, consistent strokes – always in one direction to avoid matting the fibres. Repeat for heavier soiling. After cleaning, a colourless impregnation spray protects the leather against moisture and future dirt.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between a suede brush and a regular shoe brush?
A regular shoe brush is designed for smooth leather and applies polish or wax to the surface. A suede brush is specifically for velour, nubuck and suede: it loosens dirt mechanically through friction, lifts the fibres and works without any cream or wax.
Can I use this brush on nubuck as well?
Yes. The crepe lamellae work equally well on velour, nubuck and suede – all three leather types benefit from gentle friction rather than the application of oils or waxes.
How often should I brush my suede shoes?
A brief brush after each wear is enough to remove fresh dirt before it sets. A thorough clean with a rinsed crepe brush followed by a colourless impregnation spray is recommended every four to six weeks, depending on how often you wear them.
How do I clean the crepe brush itself?
Simply rinse the lamellae under lukewarm water and leave them to dry at room temperature – no hairdryer, no direct sunlight. Once dry, the brush is ready to use immediately.
