The Langer & Messmer Sneaker Cleaning Kit brings together everything you need for clean trainers: cleaner, brush and microfibre cloth. The three matched pieces take care of uppers and soles alike, whether smooth leather, synthetic leather, textile, canvas, mesh or rubber.
Each piece has its own job. The brush first sweeps off dry dirt and later works in the cleaner, the Sneaker Cleaner lifts even stubborn stains, and the microfibre cloth picks up the loosened dirt. The Sneaker Cleaner is a propellant-free pump spray with a water-based formula, made in Italy. The brush from our Sneaker Line measures 125 × 42 mm. Its densely set PVC bristles lift coarse dirt from soles and uppers without harming typical trainer materials. The wooden brush body carries the gold Sneaker Line embossing and is made in Germany. The grey microfibre cloth measures 33 × 33 cm and absorbs loosened dirt and moisture.

How to use the kit in 5 steps
1. Dry-brush
Remove the laces and brush off loose dirt and dust with the dry sneaker brush.
2. Dampen and spray
Dampen the brush with a little water, then spray the Sneaker Cleaner onto it or directly onto the soiled area.
3. Brush in
Work the cleaner in with small circular movements until the dirt loosens. Mesh and textile need only light pressure. On the sole you can brush more firmly.
4. Wipe with the microfibre cloth
Lightly dampen the microfibre cloth and use it to remove the loosened dirt. Treat stubborn stains a second time.
5. Let dry
Leave the trainers to air-dry at room temperature, away from radiators and direct sunlight. A cedar shoe tree keeps them in shape while they dry.

What is the best way to clean trainers?
In three passes: brush them dry first, then loosen the ingrained dirt with a sneaker cleaner, a little water and a brush, and finish by wiping down with a damp cloth. After that, let the shoes air-dry. The three pieces in this kit are put together for exactly this routine.
What should you bear in mind when washing trainers in the washing machine?
We recommend cleaning by hand, as heat and spinning can loosen glued seams and pull the shoe out of shape. Leather and suede trainers should not go in the machine at all. If you do machine-wash textile trainers, take out the laces and insoles first, put the shoes in a laundry bag and choose a gentle cycle at no more than 30 °C with a low spin speed. Always let them air-dry, never in the tumble dryer.
Can I clean trainers with shaving foam?
In a pinch, shaving foam will lift light dirt. It is designed for shaving, though, and often contains fragrances and conditioning agents that can stay behind in the fabric. For regular cleaning, a sneaker cleaner, a suitable brush and a microfibre cloth are the more reliable choice.
