Langer & Messmer Mannheim Wooden Shoe Shine Box (with 8-piece care set)

The Mannheim shoe shine box keeps everything you need for shoe care in one place: a compact two-compartment box, available empty or with a matched care set. Creams, brushes and cloths sit ready under one lid, neatly sorted and pleasant to look at rather than loose in a drawer.

The body is MDF with a brown veneer, the lid closes with a snap closure and carries the engraved Langer & Messmer mark. An interior divider splits the space into one large and one narrow compartment: the large one for brushes and cloths, the narrow one for the cream tins. That is the real point of a good care box: everything you need for regular care has one place, and a handsome one.

Measuring 34.5 × 18 × 10 cm, the box sits neatly in a cupboard or hallway, yet it is handsome enough to leave on show. Designed by Langer & Messmer in Heidelberg.

Four versions let you match the contents to your leather:

• Empty: the box on its own, for anyone who already owns their care products or would rather put their own kit together. Also a fitting gift.
• 6-piece suede care set: for suede and nubuck.

• 12-piece care set: the complete kit for smooth leathers in black, neutral and brown.

How to use it

Brush off loose dirt with the dirt brush first. Then apply a thin coat of leather cream with the application brush; the cream contains beeswax and carnauba wax, nourishing the leather and laying the base for the shine in one step. Allow it to absorb for a few minutes, brush it out with the polishing brush and finish to a high shine with the cotton cloth. Brush suede while dry, then refresh it with the suede spray.
