Knee high socks by Langer & Messmer in 100% extrafine merino wool: over-the-calf length, non-scratchy, temperature-regulating, made in Italy by Calze Vitrano.
The yarn comes from Italfil Lane, one of Italy's most respected yarn manufacturers. Merino wool fibres measure just 16 to 24.5 microns in diameter. The human itch threshold is approximately 25 microns, which means merino fibres are too fine to trigger the scratching sensation associated with standard wool. The yarn is dyed to Oeko-Tex Standard 100 and free from harmful substances.
Why choose knee high socks? Over-the-calf socks stay in place all day without slipping into your shoe. This matters most when wearing boots, Chelsea boots, or formal leather shoes, where a sock that slides down is both uncomfortable and visible. The naturally crimped merino fibres create air pockets that trap warmth in winter and wick moisture outward in warmer conditions.
