Men's socks by Langer & Messmer crafted from Filoscozia®: 100% mercerized extra-long staple cotton, made in Italy for a refined finish that sets these apart from standard cotton dress socks.
Filoscozia® is spun from hand-picked extra-long staple cotton fibres, 34 to 36mm in length, sourced from Egypt, Sudan and Peru. The fibres are mako-combed and spun two-ply at NE 60/2 NM for exceptional evenness and strength. The yarn is then mercerized, a finishing process developed by John Mercer in the mid-19th century that permanently alters the fibre structure to achieve three distinct properties: dimensional stability (no shrinkage), enhanced moisture absorption, and a characteristic silky sheen. All dyeing is carried out to Oeko-Tex Standard 100.
