Men's Cotton Socks: Why the Cotton Quality Matters
Most men's cotton socks are made from standard ring-spun cotton. These men's cotton socks take a different approach. They use soft-twisted cotton -- known in Italy as cotone caldo or soft cotone -- where fibres are spun with a lighter twist than standard yarn. The result is a noticeably softer feel: more like a knitwear fabric than a typical dress sock, while staying breathable and lightweight throughout the day.
The cotton itself comes from medium-to-long staple fibres (20-28mm) from Egypt, Sudan, and Peru. Longer staple fibres produce a smoother, more durable yarn than short-staple commodity cotton. The yarn is then dyed to Oeko-Tex Standard 100 by Italian mill Filmar, without harmful substances. Made in Italy by Calze Vitrano, a specialist knitwear manufacturer.
These are the right choice for anyone who prefers cotton over wool, finds merino socks too warm, or simply values the lightweight, breathable feel of a fine cotton sock. The calf-length fit and smooth knit sit flat inside dress shoes without bunching, and the reinforced toe and heel area extends the sock's lifespan through daily use. Available in 13 colours: black, brown, dark blue, bordeaux, dark green, lilac, violet, capri blue, lemon yellow, light green, orange, pink, turquoise.
